In case of Snow, Allegro follows the Kent School district closures.  You can also call the studio and listen to the voice mail that will be updated with any closures.  Thank you.

C  The Flu Season is upon us and we would prefer that students who are sick stay home and get better before coming back to class.  You are always welcome and encouraged to take a free class somewhere else on the schedule to make-up for your absence. Thank you for understanding.

H $10 OFF YOUR TUITION!!!!!

All you have to do is tell your friends about Allegro and when they register you get ten dollars off your next month’s tuition!

January is the perfect time for them to enroll and begin preparing for the June Showcase with us!

 I  Parents and Students:

Just a friendly reminder about our dress code.  It isn’t a very complicated one but it is essential to learning and getting the most out of your dance experience.  With the cold weather all students are encouraged to come to class dressed warmly but please be prepared to have dance clothes underneath when you get warmer.

Also it is especially encouraged for parents to take their young children to the bathroom before class.

Thank you, Tonya

J Congratulations to our November Performer of the Month  - Anna McLaughlin

K If this is your first dance performance on stage we have a special certificate that we would like to present to you honoring this occasion!  Let us know if this is your first performance by signing the list located in the lobby or simply e-mailing us back.

Please don’t forget to pick up your first performance certificates in the office in January!

L June Showcase Costumes:

(We need to know by December 7th if you will be performing in the holiday showcase, if we do not hear from you we will assume that you need a costume and you will be responsible for paying for it - as initialed on your registration form)

Over the holiday break, our creative teachers will be hard at work preparing music and choosing costumes for our June Showcase.

The costumes that need to be ordered have to be ordered by January.  The costume companies are national companies that provide costumes for thousands of studios and can take 8-12 weeks for deliveray.  – please be prepared to pay for your costumes by the January 19th deadline.  For your convenience, Allegro now has a credit card machine!

M November Trivia Question:

Which actor played Bill Robinson in the move ‘Bojangles’?

Answer: Gregory Hines

Winner:  Drew Clark

N Spotlight on our Allegro Instructors:  Sara Palmer

-   What classes do you teach at Allegro?

I TEACH JR & SR HIP HOP/ JR & SR JAZZ

 - What other types of classes have you taught before

THAT IS ABOUT IT :)

 - What is your best memory of your dance training?

I LOVE DANCE!  THERE ARE JUST TOO MANY TO PICK JUST ONE!

 - Who was/is most inspirational in your life?

MY MOM, SHE IS AMAZING!

 - What is the funniest thing that has happened to you while teaching?

THE FLOOR WAS SO SWEATY AND I RAN OVER TO CHANGE THE MUSIC AND I SLIPPED AND FELL.  NOT SO GRACEFULLY I MIGHT ADD.  IT WAS PRETTY FUNNY...

- Why do you teach?

TEACHING IS COOL!  I GET TO WITTNESS MILESTONES THAT I OTHER WISE WOULD NEVER SEE.  I FEEL HONORED THAT THESE KIDS AND FAMILIES ALLOW ME TO BE THERE WHEN THESE "AHA" MOMENTS OCCUR.  WHAT MANY OF MY KIDS DONT KNOW IS THAT I TEACH BECAUSE THEY INSPIRE ME EVERY DAY WITH THEIR COMMITTMENT AND LOVE FOR THE ART.  I LOVE TO SEE THEM GROW INTO BEING CONFIDENT PEOPLE WHO SEE CLASS AS A MEANS TO LET LOOSE AND TAKE EVERY DAY FEELINGS OUT IN A POSITIVE WAY.  THESE KIDS ARE TRULY THE REASON WHY I DO THIS, THEY KEEP ME GOING!

 - What other hobbies do you have?

I LOVE TO PLAY BALL AND READ WITH MY DAUGHTER DALEN.  I LOVE TO HIKE AND KYAK WITH MY HUSBAND.  AND I LOVE TO HAVE LONG COUCH TALKS WITH MY MOM.

 - What is your favorite style of dance?

I LOVE THEM ALL!  HIP HOP IS PRETTY FUN!

- What type of dance would you like to learn (that you don't know already)?

I WOULD LOVE TO LEARN TO Lindy Hop!

 - Goals or major plans for the future?

I WANT TO HAVE ANOTHER BABY (GOD WILLING) & I WANT TO GET ANOTHER MASTERS IN SOCIOLOGY AND TEACH AT A UNIVERSITY ONE DAY

 - What you want for your students to get (the most) from your classes at Allegro?

I WANT MY STUDENTS TO REALIZE THAT YOU DONT HAVE TO BE THE BEST DANCER OR HAVE THE PERFECT BODY TO LOVE THE ART OF DANCE.  DANCE IS OBTAINABLE AND EMBRACES ALL PEOPLE.  AS LONG AS YOU COME INTO CLASS AND JUST BE YOU, YOU HAVE ALREADY CONQUERED HALF THE BATTLE.  PUTTING YOURSELF OUT THERE IS DIFFICULT, BUT REGRETING NOT EVER TRYING IS EVEN WORSE!

Happy Holidays Everyone!
