Allegro to me and many people is like a second home. You make a lot of friends and meet a lot of awesome teachers. Also the training at Allegro has helped me grow and improve in my dancing since the beginning. The teachers make it easy to learn and break down the steps so that you understand it. In addition, the classes are fun for all ages and everyone is encouraging of each other.

Before I was a Dad, it took a lot to move this kid from the tough streets of Brooklyn.

Before I was a Dad, I'd never heard the words leotards & tights, dance moves like battement & grand jete.  Watching my daughter Brittany at age three and a half take the stage at Allegro's Showcase, my heart leapt.  Sacrificing vacations for an away competition, the countless hours down at the studio for costume fittings or picture day, congratulating her on her latest trophy or medal --- somehow we always managed to get through it.

It's been twelve and a half years now.  Today when I sit in that audience, I am convinced that the support system goes well beyond Ms. Tonya & Ms. Rosemary.  It's the teachers, the seamstress, the fathers who work on the props and all the others behind the scene. The statement runs true at Allegro Performing Arts Academy that "It takes a village to raise a child".  Well in my case, two.

The introduction of my other daughter, Lailani, age four and a half to dance, it brings me the same joy to know that she will be brought up with the same core values and discipline as her big sister.

Now that I'm a father watching my two girls dance at Allegro, that tough guy from Brooklyn never needs reminding that it is okay to cry.

The wonderful thing about Allegro is Allegro is a wonderful place!

It's training is fun extraordinaire.

It's teachers give care and support.

It's learning, practicing, performing, winning

Friends, friends, friends for life!

But the most wonderful thing about Allegro

It means family, and my second home.

OK, so even though I didn't get to actually watch last week (or realize it was watch week...not sure) I wanted to give you feedback based on what I see every week. I LOVE what you are doing here.  It is why I switched (and others I know, too) from another studio.  The difference is that you allow the kids to have fun, yet you focus on technique and how to make the kids better all around dancers. I love that you push them, yet keep it fun.  It’s a fine line and I just want you to know that it doesn’t go unnoticed.

And, as an “older” dancer J, I truly appreciate that you have classes where us old ladies are welcome.  I truly love dance, always have, and continue to learn every week.  Both you and Tiffany are fabulous.  And my kids love Ricki Lynn and Sarah immensely.  You’re doing it right Tonya – keep it up and kudos to you and your wonderful staff!

To the staff at Allegro,

I can’t tell you how proud I am to be part of Allegro!!

And I don’t say this in a vacuum, focused only on the numbers my child is in; the comment comes from the whole of the Allegro experience.

Comparing Allegro to other studios I can’t help but notice…

The quality in choreography

The quality in music selection

The quality and “age-appropriateness” of costumes

The quality of the dancers at every level

The noticeable improvement in EVERY number (including s/d/t and group numbers!)

The success of the Allegro program

I am so happy and proud to have my child involved with Allegro.

You’ve sparked in my child the love of performance, of competition and fellowship among teammates. My child didn’t always win in all numbers but the improvement and accomplishment is what caused a huge smile! Seeing my child walk with head held high for all the right reasons truly warms my heart and puts me near tears.

My child spent many hours each day at the competition this weekend and complained Sunday night “that it went too quickly” and complained that the next competition / event is too long away!!  As I was pondering and considering all the hours spent at Highline this past weekend, I am truly happy that through my child’s’ eye it went too quickly!

Thank you to everyone at Allegro for all you do for my child and for the pride, joy, and accomplishments Allegro brings to me and my family!

Sincerely,

The McAboy’s (Allegro Family!)
