AN INTEGRATIVE APPROACH TO HEALTH AND WELLNESS THROUGH   YOGA AND NUTRITION

Debunking the myths about health and wellness, Nina Escudero and Liz Rasmussen will discuss an integrative approach to support your well-being through Yoga and Nutrition. These are two successful sources of health and wellness that have withstood the test of time.

In this fun and informative workshop, you will discover how to transform your relationship with food for increased health, energy and wellness on all levels.

Nina is the Iyengar Hatha Yoga instructor at Allegro and a UW Dance Major. Over the past 25 years she has applied her Dance and Yoga training to develop a focus on the benefits of combining the elements of movement and nutrition.

Nina will share the truths of the process of allowing yourself to get back in touch with your mind and body.  We will discuss how we are over-stimulated by so many technological distractions in our lives which, rather than simplify our lives, really make our days more stressful.  Today, we can be unaware of how we multitask until we become overloaded and then wonder why we feel so tired, have no energy and feel out of touch with ourselves.  Understanding the benefits of a Yoga practice, re-learning the simple basics of breathing and listening to your body, you will leave the workshop understanding the history of Yoga and how its gentle nurturing process brings you to a joy-filled place -- the place where you become aware of your body which in turn makes it want to be more – healthy, well, in tone and at its best.

Liz is finishing her Masters in Holistic Nutrition.

Liz will explore the ways in which your current eating habits may be unknowingly sabotaging your efforts.  We will also talk about often overlooked factors such as environmental toxins, stress and hormonal imbalances.  We will discuss the current diet trends and explore their differences.  But more importantly, the things they have in common.  You will leave the workshop with a solid understanding of simple, effective steps you can start taking now that will establish a foundation of health, without counting calories, carbohydrates or grams of fat, and without having to spend hours in the kitchen.
