Time management for dancers!

Happy November! Since we are all getting into the holiday season I find that time management is extremely important. There are so many fun things going on outside of dance but we have to remember that it is important to have a consistent attendance at dance, finish homework, and to find time to relax.

Finding time to get all of these things done can be challenging but it is definitely possible! Here are some tips on managing your time wisely:

  1. Know your goals - It is important at all times to know what you are working towards. Make sure that the things you are participating in can be beneficial to both long and short-term goals.

  2. Prioritize - Look at the things that you need to get done in your day and put them into one of these categories:

  3. Important and urgent — Tasks that must be done. Do them right away.

  4. Important but not urgent — Tasks that appear important, but upon closer examination aren’t. Decide when to do them.

  5. Urgent but not important — Tasks that make the most “noise,” but when accomplished, have little or no lasting value. Delegate these if possible.

  6. Not urgent and not important — Low-priority stuff that offer the illusion of “being busy.” Do them later.

  7. Plan ahead - Be able to know what things you get to get done or attend throughout the week or maybe even the month. A good way to keep track of important events is to have a planner with everything that you are doing/ want to do.

  8. Eliminate distractions - Cell phone are the main distractions for most people. Finding time everyday to just put the phone away could be beneficial to getting your work done.

  9. Take care of yourself - Please take time to rest. Do not feel guilty for needing time to just relax and breathe. Set a time in your schedule that is strictly just to lay down and chill.

Thank you so much for reading my blog. Hope this information was helpful! :)
