A lifelong musician, Emily Trujillo Martens loves expressing rhythm and musicality in her dance practice and sharing it with her students. She spent the past several years leading marketing and community outreach for a swing & jazz dance collective in Bellingham, Washington, where she also taught weekly classes and workshops.

During her time in Bellingham, she taught at Evolution Dance Co. and has performed with various dance and theatre groups throughout Whatcom and Skagit counties, including Theatre Arts Guild, Bellingham Circus Guild, and Bellingham Repertory Dance.

Emily is passionate about dance as an avenue for advocacy—spreading joy and unity, connecting cultures and uplifting marginalized communities through movement. Most recently, she choreographed and performed in a production of “In the Heights” by Lin Manuel-Miranda for Little Lemon Productions. She was elated to highlight Latin communities through a tapestry of Hip Hop, jazz, contemporary and Latin dance.

Emily is a certified barre fitness instructor and has enjoyed building dance fitness communities at Green River College and Western Washington University.

She is a proud Allegro alum and enjoyed training, performing and competing with the studio. Emily credits the assistant dance instructor program with helping her discover her passion for teaching. She believes that each dancer has immense potential and enjoys creating a supportive environment where students can build growth and grit.
